Our cardiology department was initially conceived to cover the need of some 60% of our patients in whom kidney and heart disease coexist. However HKC is now furnished with the complete cycle of cardiac care including an upgraded emergency department, CCU, post CCU, coronary angiography/ angioplasty/stenting suites, and open heart (heart beating, non beating and endoscopically assisted) coronary bypass surgery, in addition to valve replacement surgeries. The cardiac rehabilitation unit sees to it that all our patients return to their full functional capacity as soon as safely feasible after discharge.
